Overview

VIA VAB-800 Pico-ITX ARM Board

Featuring an 800MHz Freescale™ Cortex-A8 ARM SoC, the VIA VAB-800 combines advanced multimedia performance and rich I/O connectivity with ultra low power consumption and a wide operating temperature range to provide a flexible and reliable solution for a wide range of HMI, industrial automation, energy management, and in-vehicle applications.


Hardware

The VAB-800 delivers a rich array of I/O and connectivity features on an ultra-compact Pico-ITX form factor measuring just 10cm x 7.2cm.

VAB-800 Hardware Overview


Software

The VAB-800 Android EVK features Android 2.3 as well as the VIA Smart ETK comprising a number of APIs, including Watchdog Timer (WDT) for safeguarding against system crashes, GPIO access, COM port access, RTC for auto-power on, and a sample app.

The VAB-800 Linux EVK has a pre-built Ubuntu image, including the kernel and bootloader source codes. Other features include a Tool Chain to help make adjustments to the kernel and to leverage the onboard pin-headers, GPIO, I2C, and other hardware features.

A full set of software customization services that speed up time to market and minimize development costs is also available.

Expandability

The functionality of the VAB-800 can be further enhanced with the integration of an optional high-speed USB Wi-Fi module.

Applications

With a wide operating temperature range of up to -40°C ~ 85°C (industrial grade model) and extremely low power consumption of a maximum 5W TDP, the VAB-800 provides a rugged and reliable platform for even the most demanding environments.
